Sr. Database Administrator

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Database Administrator to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will own the performance, reliability, and operational health of critical database environments supporting enterprise systems. You will lead efforts to optimize MySQL and SQL Server workloads, improve database efficiency, and support high availability across cloud-managed platforms. The position also partners closely with developers and technical teams to guide schema changes, tune queries, and strengthen database standards that support scalable operations.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead query performance tuning and diagnostics for MySQL and Aurora MySQL
• Refactor and tune database code for improved efficiency and throughput
• Execute schema refactoring and data migrations from Oracle MySQL to Aurora MySQL
• Design and troubleshoot replication and high availability configurations
• Manage operational tasks for Aurora MySQL and RDS for SQL Server
• Maintain monitoring and alerting systems, participating in on-call rotations
• Review queries and schema changes, mentoring developers on best practices
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of DBA experience, primarily in MySQL with SQL Server knowledge
• 5+ years of query performance tuning and index strategy development in MySQL
• Hands-on experience with MySQL replication and backup/recovery processes
• Experience refactoring complex SQL code, including stored procedures and functions
• 3+ years of relational data modeling and schema design expertise
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience following and promoting documented standards and change control processes
