Title: Senior Software Engineer

Time: Full-Time (PST preferred)

Location: Remote (USA, Canada)

Compensation: $190,000 - $225,000/year USD + Competitive Equity

The Company

Our client is the first modern EDI platform to embed AI directly into workflows, automating rule writing, reducing errors, and making integrations effortless. By automating the manual work of EDI setup and maintenance, they are making complex data exchange accessible to everyone, whether a Fortune 500 retailer or a growing D2C brand.

Role Overview

Senior engineers own the design, delivery, and reliability of complex parts of our client's platform. In this role, you will lead the architecture of new solutions, solve challenging technical problems, and set the quality bar, increasingly by directing AI coding agents and reviewing their work as rigorously as you would review a teammate's. You will mentor other engineers, shape technical direction, and partner with product and cross-functional teams to ensure engineering deliverables directly support business goals. Deep fundamentals are essential, as safely evaluating agent-generated code requires a comprehensive understanding of the underlying systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and end-to-end implementation of major initiatives and product features that meet critical business requirements.

• Manage complex systems and architectures, planning for performance, scale, and reliability from the start.

• Author technical design documents for large-scale projects and applications, providing guidance on the business case for pursuing technical changes.

• Identify the business impact of technical changes and guide cross-functional teams in mitigating risks.

• Direct AI coding agents and review generated code rigorously to maintain high standards of code quality, security, and system reliability.

• Mentor team members, elevate engineering standards, and help shape overall technical strategy.

• Collaborate closely with product management and cross-functional partners to deliver scalable, business-aligned solutions.

Qualifications

• 5 to 15 years of experience in backend-heavy, product-minded software engineering.

• Proven track record designing and building high-scale transactional systems on data-heavy platforms (experience with EDI systems is a strong asset).

• Expert knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript.

• Strong experience with distributed systems and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).

• Proven track record of owning the technical design of a major system or product area end-to-end.

• Demonstrated experience building with AI and shipping production features using AI coding tools and agents.

• Background working in a growth-stage startup environment (ideally Series C+, or Series A/B with proven enterprise traction).

• Product-oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be based in the US or Canada and legally authorized to work without visa sponsorship (e.g., US Citizen or Green Card holder).
