Staff Software Engineer, On-Prem

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, On-Prem to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will shape the strategy and technical direction for a self-hosted software offering, with a focus on platform reliability, release automation, and streamlined deployment experiences. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to improve how customers install, upgrade, observe, and operate the platform in production. The work will also involve leveraging AI-enabled approaches to accelerate engineering workflows and raise the overall quality and velocity of the team.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $205,000 – $285,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Build AI-driven solutions as a core part of the engineering process
• Own the platform strategy for tooling and release automation within the self-hosted offering
• Simplify installation and upgrade processes to enhance customer confidence
• Manage the foundational infrastructure for the self-hosted platform, including Kubernetes deployments
• Standardize observability practices using OpenTelemetry to improve diagnostics for operators
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering Management to align technical strategies with business objectives
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to other engineers, raising the quality of work across teams
  
  

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in backend and systems engineering, particularly with production systems
• Proficient in Kubernetes and Helm, with hands-on experience in deploying and debugging
• Strong programming skills in Go, with a focus on API design and distributed systems
• Experience in building internal platforms that enhance team productivity
• Familiarity with AI tools and their application in engineering practices
• Ability to make architecture decisions that align with business goals and document rationale
• Experience with on-premises or self-hosted software deployment
