About the Opportunity:

The SYSTEMS ENGINEER role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing a core claims adjudication platform. This position ensures the technical reliability, security, and scalability of the system by combining hands-on software development with broader systems engineering practices. The engineer acts as a critical link between engineering teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver effective solutions that support claims processing operations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and improvements on the claims platform, including code updates and performance tuning.
• Establish best practices for system architecture and claims adjudication.
• Provide technical guidance related to claims-processing challenges.
• Develop and test system enhancements based on internal and client requirements.
• Write and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and related database objects.
• Use scripting languages to automate tasks and build tools.
• Collaborate with teams and vendors to implement and maintain system integrations.
• Monitor and optimize software and operating systems critical to business functions.
• Conduct system and security audits; manage backup and recovery aligned with business continuity plans.
• Create system design documentation to guide development efforts.
• Lead testing efforts for system modifications and new deployments.
• Maintain documentation for system configurations and processes.
• Serve as primary contact for vendors to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system rebuilds or replacements.
• Manage interactions and negotiations with external service providers.
• Assist in managing software development projects from requirements through delivery.

Requirements:

• 3 to 5+ years of experience in database/application development, systems engineering, or related technical roles.
• Experience developing and supporting healthcare data integrations, including X12 EDI and custom data feeds (eg, 837, 835, 999, 834, 278).
• Familiarity with claims management platforms like Impact is strongly preferred.
• Advanced skills in database development with MS SQL and C#; knowledge of DBC coding or similar languages is a plus.
• Extensive experience with SQL and relational databases, including complex query development and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of systems planning, security principles, and software management best practices.
• Desired experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and TDD/BDD practices.
• Healthcare industry and project management experience are advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with good organizational abilities and customer-service orientation.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative approach and willingness to mentor others.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
