What the unemployment rate counts

It is the share of the labour force that has no work, is available to work, and is looking for work. People who have stopped looking are not in it, and neither are people working fewer hours than they want.

Whose figure this is

This is the figure the States of Guernsey publishes for Guernsey, read on its own website. We read it again every month. Figures by quarter can move with the seasons, and recent ones are sometimes revised.
