This role will work within the Advanced Technology team to support cross-disciplinary product development efforts, develop internal models and tools, analyze existing and future product designs, and innovate next-generation product concepts. This individual will work hand-in-hand with product development teams to quickly and collaboratively advance select, highly technical projects. Prior start-up company experience is a strong plus but is not required. The ideal candidate will have strong skills across the domains of math, systems modeling, electrical systems, mechanical systems, control systems, and/or Finite Element Analysis. Programming and/or scripting experience is also a strong plus.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and refine models of mechanical, electrical and/or electromechanical systems and subsystems within current and potential future motor & drive products.
  • Utilize models to identify current and future performance-limiting aspects of current products across technological domains.
  • Acquire experimental data for model development.
  • Contribute to core technology innovation and invention.
  • Investigate and de-risk new technologies for future application within product development groups.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of statics and dynamics within electrical, mechanical and electromechanical domains.
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, physics, applied math, control systems, or a similar field.
  • Hands-on experience in laboratory, product development and/or manufacturing environments. Knowledge/experience setting up electromechanical equipment is a plus.
  • Talent for dissecting complex problems and systems into their relevant constituent components.
  • Self-starter with track record of self-directed study. Scripting, programming and FEA experience are strong pluses.
  • Familiarity with types of electric motors and/or drive systems is beneficial but not required.
