DevOps Engineer
Job Description
The role owns the infrastructure that keeps production systems running: Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, cloud networking, and the observability stack that tells us when something breaks before users notice. This is a hands-on engineering position, not a ticket-queue role — expect to spend most days in Terraform, Git, and Grafana.
The team operates a platform serving high-traffic, latency-sensitive workloads across multiple cloud environments. Reliability, deployment velocity, and cost efficiency are treated as engineering problems with measurable outcomes, not operational afterthoughts.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Helm across AWS, provisioning environments that are reproducible, reviewed, and auditable
- Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) that ship code to production multiple times per day with automated testing and rollback capabilities
- Operate and scale Kubernetes clusters in production — capacity planning, node management, autoscaling policies, and workload tuning
- Design observability systems using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry; define SLOs/SLIs and build alerting that pages on real problems, not noise
- Lead incident response and postmortems for production outages; drive root-cause fixes and reliability improvements rather than recurring patches
- Harden infrastructure security: IAM policies, network segmentation, secrets management (Vault), and compliance with SOC 2 requirements
- Partner with software engineering teams to improve service reliability, containerization, and deployment ergonomics across the codebase
- 3–7 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, including on-call responsibility for production systems
- Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production, including debugging workloads, networking (CNI), and resource management
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform (or equivalent) and Git-based workflows; comfort with code review culture
- Production experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred), including VPC design, IAM, and cost management
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or systems language: Python, Go, or Bash
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; strong grasp of Linux internals, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals
- Bonus: Experience with service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), GitOps tooling, chaos engineering practices, or managing multi-cloud/multi-region architectures
