After you apply: claiming each week
After your new claim, file a weekly claim online at neworks.nebraska.gov for every week you are unemployed or your hours are reduced, even while your claim is being processed or an appeal is pending. You have from Sunday to Saturday to file for the previous week; a late claim may cost you that week and the weeks in between, and two weeks without a weekly claim makes your claim inactive. For help, call the Nebraska Claims Center at 402-458-2500, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday to Friday.

How much unemployment pays in Nebraska, and for how long
The most you can get is $582 a week. Benefits last up to 26 weeks.
Your weekly benefit amount is based on the quarter of your base period when you earned the most: those wages are divided by 13, then by 2, and rounded down to the next even dollar, up to the 2026 maximum. The total you can get in a benefit year is 26 times your weekly amount or one-third of your base period wages, whichever is less.

How many jobs you must apply for each week
Nebraska asks for 5 reemployment activities a week. At least two of the five must be applications for suitable work. Exceptions: a temporary layoff with a return date confirmed within 16 weeks (112 days), workers in good standing with a union hiring hall, and people in a TRADE or approved training program. Your NEworks resume must also be online and searchable every week.
Record them in NEworks (the Work Search Log) during the week or when you submit your weekly claim. They are subject to audit.
