Job Description

About The Company

NinjaOne unifies IT to simplify work for nearly 40,000 customers in over 140 countries. The NinjaOne Unified IT Operations Platform delivers endpoint management, autonomous patching, backup, and remote access in a single console to improve efficiency, increase resilience, and reduce costs. By automating IT and managing all endpoints, organizations provide employees with an excellent technology experience at work. NinjaOne is deeply committed to customer success, maintaining a 98% customer satisfaction score for more than five years. The company fosters a collaborative, kind, and curious community, offering flexible hybrid remote work options and comprehensive benefits to support employee well-being and growth.

About The Role

As a Principal DevOps Engineer on NinjaOne’s DevOps Engineering team, you will be a key technical leader responsible for evolving and owning the design, architecture, and continuous improvement of NinjaOne's Continuous Delivery and deployment automation capabilities. Your focus will be on ensuring that code moves from commit to production quickly, safely, predictably, and with minimal manual intervention. This highly hands-on role involves designing and implementing deployment systems, building automation, solving complex release engineering challenges, and providing technical leadership across Engineering, QA, Security, SRE, and Architecture teams.

You will be instrumental in establishing technical patterns and platforms that enable frequent deployments while maintaining strong production safety and operational controls. Your expertise will cover continuous delivery, deployment automation, progressive delivery, release orchestration, feature flagging, and automated rollback. Working closely with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), you will help shape the next generation of software delivery and release engineering capabilities at scale, supporting millions of endpoints through a cloud-based platform.

This role offers flexibility with remote work options within specified US states and hybrid opportunities in Austin, TX, and Tampa, FL. Onsite interviews may be required.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Release Engineering, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical disciplines
  • Deep hands-on experience designing and operating Continuous Delivery and deployment automation platforms at scale
  • Strong knowledge of progressive delivery strategies such as canary, blue/green, rolling, and controlled rollouts
  • Experience with feature flagging for controlled feature releases and integration with deployment platforms
  • Proficiency with CI/CD platforms (e.g., CircleCI, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and building reusable pipelines and deployment frameworks
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Go, Python, Bash, or similar languages
  • Experience with artifact management and promotion across environments
  • Integration of automated testing, security, quality, and operational checks into deployment pipelines
  • Expertise in deployment observability, release metrics, and integrating application telemetry into release decisions
  • Solid understanding of cloud environments (preferably AWS), Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform), and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in distributed systems and production environments
  • Proven technical leadership with the ability to lead complex initiatives and mentor engineers
  • Experience with software supply-chain security and DevSecOps practices
  • Track record of reducing deployment lead time, change failure rates, and time to recover through automation and progressive delivery
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required due to federal security requirements

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end Continuous Delivery pipeline design, build, and continuous improvement from artifact promotion to progressive rollout in production
  • Architect and implement highly automated deployment workflows eliminating manual release steps and enabling safe, consistent deployments
  • Design and implement progressive delivery strategies including blue/green, canary, rolling, and regional deployments with automated health checks and deployment gates
  • Build automated release orchestration across services, environments, and regions, including deployment sequencing, dependency management, artifact promotion, validation, approvals, and rollback
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture teams to drive feature flagging capabilities and controlled releases, integrating feature flags with deployment workflows
  • Lead the evolution of NinjaOne’s CI/CD framework with a focus on Continuous Delivery, integrating artifact management, automated testing, security checks, quality gates, and deployment health monitoring
  • Establish deployment guardrails and automated controls to improve production deployment safety without unnecessary manual processes
  • Improve deployment observability by building metrics, dashboards, and telemetry integration for deployment success rates, rollback rates, and change failure rates
  • Collaborate with Cloud Platform, SRE, and Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of deployment systems with underlying infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation
  • Drive deployment reliability by participating in incident investigations, leading remediation efforts, and building automated recovery and rollback capabilities
  • Provide technical leadership, define standards and best practices, and mentor senior and staff engineers within the DevOps organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and company goals
