Job Summary:
As the Director, Product Marketing, will play a key role in defining how BillingPlatform’s products and solutions are positioned and brought to market. This role will lead go-to-market strategy, product positioning and messaging, competitive intelligence, pricing and packaging, and market-facing initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and analytical thinker with strong storytelling and communication skills who can translate complex billing, monetization, and financial technology solutions into compelling value propositions for customers, prospects, partners, analysts, and internal teams.
This role requires someone who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution, collaborate across functions, and influence key business decisions in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and track product marketing performance with Sales, Product, and Marketing Operations, including competitive win rates, sales enablement adoption, launch effectiveness, product adoption, and contribution to qualified pipeline and expansion. Establish baselines and agreed targets, and use results to refine go-to-market priorities.
- Own ideal customer profiles, market segmentation, buyer personas, and buying-committee insights. Translate customer interviews, buying journeys, purchase triggers, and objections into prioritized target segments, use cases, and differentiated messaging for business and technical stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional go-to-market plans for new and existing products, including launch strategies, messaging, positioning, and supporting demo environments for vertical and segment marketing. Establish launch tiers, owners, milestones, field and customer readiness criteria, and post-launch reviews with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing.
- Partner with Sales, Product, and other business functions to develop impactful sales and marketing assets, including customer references, case studies, product videos, blog posts, press releases, presentations, and other thought leadership content.
- Lead product and competitive sales enablement in partnership with Sales leadership and Sales Engineering, including onboarding, ongoing training, discovery guides, competitive battlecards, objection handling, and business-value tools. Measure field adoption and gather feedback to improve effectiveness in active opportunities.
- Conduct ongoing market and competitive research, including win/loss analysis, to identify changing market dynamics, competitive threats, customer needs, and opportunities for differentiation.
- Bring structured customer, market, and win/loss insights into product roadmap and investment discussions. Partner with Product Management to validate unmet needs, prioritize market opportunities, and test value propositions before launch.
- Partner with Customer Success and Product to develop lifecycle messaging and programs that support onboarding, feature adoption, customer education, cross-sell, and expansion. Turn customer outcomes and feedback into stronger value propositions and customer advocacy.
- Develop value-selling frameworks, ROI and total-cost-of-ownership models, and customer proof points that connect technical capabilities to measurable business outcomes. Partner with Sales and Finance to validate assumptions and support executive-level buying discussions.
- Support executive speaking engagements, presentations, training, trade shows, conferences, and industry events as needed.
- Set the product marketing operating plan, prioritize initiatives against business goals, and establish repeatable processes for messaging, launches, competitive intelligence, and enablement. Coordinate internal contributors and external resources to deliver against agreed priorities.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to evaluate market and business opportunities and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex products and technologies into clear and compelling messaging.
- Strong understanding of go-to-market strategy, product positioning, messaging, and product launches.
- Ability to analyze competitive and market data and develop clear recommendations for business leaders.
- Strong business acumen, including the ability to evaluate pricing, packaging, market opportunities, and business cases.
- Ability to gather intelligence from multiple sources, synthesize information, and effectively present findings and recommendations.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence decisions without direct authority.
- Ability to move quickly between strategic planning and hands-on execution in a highly dynamic and evolving environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute initiatives in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills and confidence working with senior executives and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ownership of product marketing for enterprise B2B SaaS products, including positioning, launches, and sales enablement for complex, multi-stakeholder buying processes. Ability to show measurable business outcomes from these initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience marketing complex enterprise SaaS products to business and technical buying teams; experience with billing, revenue recognition, payments, monetization, or automated accounting is preferred.
- Working knowledge of competitive products and solutions within the billing and monetization technology market.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies and product launches.
- Demonstrated experience developing SaaS pricing and packaging recommendations using customer research, willingness-to-pay insights, competitive analysis, and financial modeling, in partnership with Product, Finance, and Sales.
- Experience developing product messaging, sales enablement materials, thought leadership, and customer-facing content.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and other business functions.
- Domain expertise in billing, monetization, payments, or financial technology is preferred but not required.
