Role Description This full-time, on-site Direct Support Professional (DSP) role is based in Newark, DE. The DSP provides hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other special needs in a home environment, assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks. Responsibilities include supporting clients with community outings, appointments, and recreational activities, while encouraging independence, social skills, and positive behavior. The role involves monitoring safety, following care plans, documenting services and progress, and communicating effectively with supervisors, teammates, and family members. The DSP is expected to maintain a respectful, inclusive environment, adhere to all agency policies and regulations, and participate in required trainings.
Qualifications

• Ability to provide direct personal care and support with daily living activities in a home or community setting.
• Skills in de-escalation, behavior support, and maintaining a calm, professional approach to challenging situations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with clients, families, and care teams.
• Organizational skills for completing documentation, following care plans, and managing time and tasks reliably.
• Commitment to person-centered, culturally sensitive, and non-discriminatory care.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant training or certifications in human services or caregiving are a plus.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs is preferred but not required.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including assisting with mobility, and to pass any background and reference checks required by policy and regulations.
