This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working alongside their team, solving technical challenges, and establishing the processes needed to deliver high-quality hardware.

You will oversee precision mechanical assembly, electrical wiring and harness fabrication, integration, and testing while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and workmanship.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in both mechanical and electrical assembly, proven technician leadership experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

You'll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program leadership to translate designs into reliable hardware while helping build a team and processes that can scale.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and provide daily direction to mechanical and electrical technicians.
  • Prioritize work, coordinate schedules, and manage resources across multiple builds and programs.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and high-quality craftsmanship.

Mechanical Assembly & Integration

  • Lead and perform precision mechanical assembly of aerospace structures, mechanisms, propulsion hardware, and related components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Ensure proper fit, alignment, torque, clearances, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Support tooling, fixturing, drilling, bonding, and critical hardware installation.

Electrical Assembly & Harness Fabrication

  • Oversee fabrication, installation, routing, and termination of electrical wiring and harness assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace workmanship standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620 and NASA/DoD requirements.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Oversee continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, and functional system checkout.
  • Maintain accurate build documentation and configuration control.

Process Improvement & Quality

  • Develop and improve assembly procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement improvements to quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability and resolve technical challenges.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory and production environment.
  • Ensure proper handling of electrical equipment, high-power systems, and ESD-sensitive components.
  • Reinforce safety procedures, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in aerospace mechanical assembly, electrical hardware integration, and wiring/harness fabrication.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technician teams.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, electrical integration, and aerospace workmanship practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Experience coordinating technical work, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to remain hands-on while providing technical leadership and direction.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience building and integrating both flight and nonflight aerospace hardware.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, process development, and continuous improvement.
  • Certifications such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or equivalent aerospace workmanship credentials.
  • Experience with high-voltage or high-current electrical systems, power electronics, vacuum systems, or large electromechanical machinery.
  • Experience in a startup, rapid prototyping, or fast-paced aerospace development environment.

Work Environment

  • Onsite position based in Garden Grove, California.
