Escalation Engineer
Job Description
Escalation Engineer | Series B HealthTech | Remote (West Coast or Mountain Time)
We’re partnering with a Series B HealthTech startup ($90M raised) to hire an Escalation Engineer.
You’ll be the go-to person when something breaks in production. That means tracking down what went wrong, getting it fixed, and building the tools and automations that stop it from happening again.
Schedule
This role runs on a structured shift pattern, so it’s important it works for you before applying.
- Weekday shift: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Pacific (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Mountain)
- Daily overlap: The whole team is on together for a couple of hours each afternoon to cover peak volume and collaborate
- Weekend on-call: One weekend per month, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific (11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Mountain), with one engineer on per day
- Two days off in your weekend week: You still work a 5-day week. In your on-call week you’ll work Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, and Sun, with Wednesday and Thursday off
What You’ll Do
- Own technical production cases coming in from Customer Support and automated alerts
- Dig into logs and run SQL queries to diagnose problems and validate fixes
- Run root cause analysis and drive changes that stop incidents from repeating
- Build internal tools, automations, and runbooks to cut down manual engineering work
- Learn the system architecture well enough to deliver fixes that scale
- Document incidents and findings, and keep engineering updated on status and recommendations
- Spot patterns across issues and push improvements to reliability and customer experience
- Work independently while partnering closely with Support and Engineering
What They’re Looking For
- 3+ years in an Escalation Engineering role
- Strong hands-on SQL, log analysis, and production debugging
- Solid grasp of system architecture and operational processes
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
- You already use AI tools to work faster and smarter
- Sharp analytical skills and good attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Startup or fast-paced environment experience
- Scripting or internal tool building in Python and/or Bash
- QA or test automation background
Comp & Benefits
- Base salary: $90,000-$120,000 depending on experience and location
- Competitive Bonus + Equity
- Medical, dental, and vision
- 401(k)
- Paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays
Fully remote in the US, based in Pacific or Mountain time.
