Executive Leadership • $125,000–$150,000 annually • Search managed by Snapchef
Lead a Historic Waterfront Private Dining Club
Established in 1872, the Squantum Association is among America’s oldest private dining clubs. Overlooking Narragansett Bay, it brings together approximately 200 members, distinctive dining traditions, and a vibrant weddings and private-events business.
Reporting to the Board of Governors, the General Manager is the senior operating executive, accountable for the member experience, events business, financial results, people, and stewardship of the historic property. The role requires balancing two distinct lines of business—club/membership operations and private events—while preserving the Association’s character.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Stewardship
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, expense control, and financial performance for both membership and event operations, with separate reporting and metrics.
- Maintain sound internal controls for purchasing, cash handling, contracts, inventory, and financial reporting; safeguard Association assets and support risk management.
- Monitor labor and food-and-beverage costs, event contribution margins, and operating results; report performance and recommendations transparently to the Board.
Club, Events & Team Leadership
- Direct member dining, culinary and beverage service, event sales and execution, staffing, and day-to-day operations to consistent high hospitality standards.
- Recruit, coach, and hold department leaders accountable for service excellence, employee development, financial performance, and compliance.
- Drive event bookings, pricing, and profitability while protecting member access; strengthen member engagement, retention, and personalized service.
- Board Partnership & Property Stewardship
- Translate Board priorities into operating plans, provide timely reporting, and maintain clear lines between Board governance and management authority.
- Oversee maintenance, vendor relationships, safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term capital planning for the historic waterfront facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of progressive hospitality leadership in a private club, upscale hotel or resort, premier event venue, or comparable operation.
- Experience managing hospitality operations generating approximately $3 million–$5 million or more in annual revenue, with hands-on P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and financial-control responsibility.
- Strong food-and-beverage and private-event expertise; proven success leading teams and partnering with boards, owners, or executive committees.
- Excellent communication, discretion, financial judgment, integrity, and a visible, member-first leadership style. Private club experience preferred.
This is a distinctive opportunity to honor more than 150 years of tradition while shaping the Association’s financial strength, service excellence, and future.
