Optician/Optometric Assistant

Role Description This is a full-time/part-time, on-site Optician/Optometric Assistant role based in Fremont, CA. The Optician/Optometric Assistant duties include:

• Perform pretesting to prepare patients to see the doctor.
• Assist with contact lens related tasks such as handling specialized patient orders, dispensing lenses, and conducting insertion and removal training for new wearers.
• Ability to use practice management software to manage appointment calendar, input patient demographics, verify insurance, and complete billing entries.
• Assist patients in frame selection and recommend specific lenses, coatings, and lens options tailored to the patients’ needs.
• Dispense eyewear and perform adjustments/repairs as needed.
• Assist with day-to-day operations from checking-in patients to answering phone inquiries to checking-out patient to ensure the practice runs smoothly.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in an optical, medical, or healthcare office is preferred but not required (we are willing to train the right person).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with a commitment to providing the best patient experience.
• Be willing to be cross-trained in multiple areas of the practice.
• Ability to multitask, be detail-oriented, be adaptable, and be a quick learner.
• Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with others.
• Possess an upbeat, positive attitude and enjoys working with people.
• Reliable and dependable.
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification as an optician or optometric assistant is a plus.
