Job Description

The Process Engineer develops, optimizes and standardizes manufacturing processes at the Coppell site. Products include thermoformed and fabricated plastic packaging, engineered foam, and wood or corrugated industrial packaging. The role covers the full process from raw material receipt to finished, packed product, with a focus on quality, safety, efficiency and cost. You’ll work on the production floor with Operations, Design, Quality and Maintenance to solve problems and lead continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, document and improve manufacturing processes (thermoforming, CNC routing and cutting, foam fabrication, assembly, packaging), including standard work, setup sheets and process parameters.
  • Find sources of process variation and scrap, and work with Design, Production and Maintenance to reduce or eliminate them using Lean, Six Sigma and root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, fishbone).
  • Optimize cycle times, material yield, machine utilization and labor efficiency, and track results against plant KPIs (OEE, scrap rate, on-time delivery, cost per unit).
  • Support new product introductions by assessing manufacturability, building process flows, validating first articles and moving products into stable production.
  • Research and justify new equipment, tooling, fixtures and methods. Prepare cost analyses and lead CAPEX projects from specification through installation and qualification.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, tooling drawings and CNC programs for prototyping, estimating and production.
  • Read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical prints, including ladder logic, to support troubleshooting with Maintenance.
  • Use the ERP system to analyze capacity, routings and production data, and produce reports with recommendations.
  • Lead efforts to remove EH&S, ergonomic and human-factors risks in manufacturing processes.
  • Support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliance, including process documentation, waste separation and environmental objectives.
  • Train operators and technicians on new or improved processes, and give practical, hands-on support on the floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Plastics or Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of process or manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment (plastics, thermoforming, foam or packaging preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools. Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
  • Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar). CNC programming experience preferred.
  • Experience using ERP systems for production analysis and reporting.
  • Project management experience, including implementing CAPEX projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a record of measurable cost savings or efficiency gains.
  • Clear communication and the ability to lead change across teams.
  • Spanish is a plus.
