Overview

The Remote Substation Physical Design Electrical Engineer/Designer at POWER Engineers will play a critical role in the design and implementation of electrical systems for substations. This position involves working collaboratively with various teams to ensure that substation designs meet industry standards, project specifications, and client needs. The candidate will be responsible for creating detailed design documentation, performing engineering calculations, and ensuring that all designs adhere to best practices in safety and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and produce detailed physical design drawings for substations including layout, grounding, and structural designs.
• Conduct engineering calculations such as short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and equipment loading.
• Collaborate with project teams to establish design criteria and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Perform design reviews and prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate design solutions.
• Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates and schedules.
• Coordinate with various disciplines including civil, structural, and protection engineers.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design files, calculations, and correspondence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design or related electrical engineering fields.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of substation physical design principles and industry standards (IEEE, NESC, etc.).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering design software.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
