Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to build, automate, and deliver enterprise cloud infrastructure and container platforms. This hands-on role emphasizes AWS, Amazon EKS, Terraform, and Red Hat OpenShift, with direct responsibility for the underlying infrastructure throughout project delivery.

The ideal candidate has recent experience owning enterprise platforms and can turn business and application requirements into reliable cloud environments. You will partner with solution architects, manage estimates and delivery commitments across multiple projects, and transition completed environments to a managed service provider for ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver AWS infrastructure in partnership with solution architects, application teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Clarify incomplete requirements, identify dependencies, and recommend platform services that improve scalability, resilience, and performance.
  • Provision and configure enterprise AWS environments, including multi-account infrastructure and AWS Control Tower.
  • Implement, manage, integrate, and troubleshoot Amazon EKS and Red Hat OpenShift container platforms across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and CloudFormation, supporting repeatable provisioning and deployment.
  • Lead infrastructure migrations to AWS while maintaining integration with existing enterprise systems.
  • Develop cloud cost estimates, project timelines, and delivery commitments; track progress and communicate risks or changes.
  • Coordinate networking, on-premises infrastructure, application, and other engineering teams across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux systems as needed for infrastructure delivery.
  • Resolve compute, storage, and container-platform issues during implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and deliver solutions aligned with enterprise architecture, AHM IT, and HDMA standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation and runbooks, complete knowledge transfer, and hand finished environments to the managed service provider.

What This Person Will Be Working On

  • Building and expanding enterprise AWS infrastructure within a multi-account environment.
  • Expanding EKS capabilities while supporting integration with the existing OpenShift platform footprint.
  • Increasing code-based infrastructure provisioning as Terraform becomes the team standard.
  • Delivering cloud migrations and platform projects from requirements and estimates through deployment and operational handoff.
  • Balancing a couple of larger projects or several smaller initiatives while coordinating dependencies through daily team touchpoints.
  • Supporting occasional after-hours or weekend project go-lives; working hours may be adjusted around deployment needs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years managing enterprise cloud infrastructure, with strong AWS experience in medium-to-large organizations.
  • Recent hands-on experience provisioning, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting AWS infrastructure, particularly within the last three years.
  • Experience with multi-account AWS environments and AWS Control Tower.
  • Strong hands-on Amazon EKS experience, including ownership of the underlying container platform.
  • Experience implementing, integrating, or managing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Strong Terraform skills and experience with CloudFormation or comparable infrastructure deployment tools.
  • Working experience with Windows and Linux deployment, administration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Practical project-delivery ability, including requirements clarification, cost estimation, timeline management, and concurrent project coordination.
  • Clear communication, technical documentation, and collaboration across architecture, networking, infrastructure, and application teams.
  • Stable enterprise work history with clear examples of sustained platform ownership and completed project delivery.

Desired Skills

  • Additional infrastructure automation experience with Ansible, Python, Chef, Puppet, or similar tools.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud integration or hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • DevOps exposure that supports infrastructure automation and platform delivery.
  • Experience preparing support documentation and transitioning completed platforms to an MSP.
  • Azure or Google Cloud Platform experience is helpful but optional.
  • AWS certifications such as Cloud Practitioner, Specialty, or Solutions Architect – Professional are welcome but not required.
