Senior Financial Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for owning the accounting process for an individual hospital/entity and seeing it through from the day-to-day accounting work all the way to financial statement preparation. This includes completing basic account reconciliations, preparing and posting journal entries, managing the general ledger, completing month-end close, and preparing accurate financial statements. They will review financials for accuracy, research and explain variances, and make sure everything is compliant with GAAP. They will also assist with fixed assets, capital projects, audit/tax work, and reporting. The biggest focus is finding someone with strong hands-on accounting experience who understands the full process and can independently produce accurate financial statement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5+ years of strong accounting experience • Financial statement preparation and full-cycle accounting ownership for an entity/business unit

• Strong general ledger, journal entry, month-end close, and account reconciliation experience

• Experience reviewing financial statements and researching variances

• Strong understanding of GAAP

•Ability to work independently and own the accounting process from start to finish

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Healthcare accounting/finance experience

• Fixed asset / PP&E accounting experience, capital requisitions, work-in-progress (WIP) experience • Sales tax, inventory, and cash audit experience

• Previous senior-level or supervisory accounting experience

• Experience communicating financial information directly with leadership and/or physicians •MBA/CPA
