Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Ruby & Next.js) (US)

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and Next.js / React to join our team.

In this role, you will lead the architecture and implementation of scalable, high-performance web applications, combining robust backend systems with modern, responsive frontend experiences.

This is a primarily remote position across the United States. However, proximity to our hubs in New York City (NYC) or Los Angeles (LA) is highly preferred for periodic in-person team-building sessions and collaborative offsites.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications using Ruby on Rails, Next.js, and React
• Develop robust backend systems and APIs using Ruby on Rails
• Leverage Next.js features, including App Router, Server-Side Rendering, and Server Actions, to deliver high-performance user experiences
• Write clean, modular, maintainable, and well-tested Ruby code
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries, Redis caching, and asynchronous background processes
• Ensure high availability, efficient API integrations, and low-latency performance across the application stack
• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineering team members
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define technical architecture and deliver scalable solutions
• Drive architectural decisions and continuously improve application performance and maintainability
  

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in a Senior Full-Stack role
• Strong hands-on expertise in Ruby on Rails, including REST/GraphQL APIs, Active Record, and Sidekiq
• Advanced proficiency with Next.js and React
• Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and performance optimization
• Experience with PostgreSQL, relational database design, and query optimization
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployments using AWS, GCP, Heroku, or Vercel
• Proven ability to design and maintain scalable full-stack applications
• Strong understanding of data modeling, system architecture, and web performance optimization
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Based in the United States, preferably near NYC or LA, with availability for occasional in-person team gatherings and offsites
  

• Strong proficiency with TypeScript in Next.js applications
• Experience with caching layers, message queues, and background processing using Redis or RabbitMQ
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization using Docker
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as RSpec, Jest, or Cypress
• Previous experience working in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments
