Position Overview

Osprey Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Web Platform / DevOps Engineer to support enterprise web delivery platforms and cloud infrastructure initiatives within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

This role will focus on operating and optimizing a Drupal web delivery platform hosted on Acquia Cloud, supporting multiple websites and enabling internal development teams and external digital agencies to safely develop, test, and deploy applications across development, test/UAT, and production environments.

The ideal candidate is a Senior Engineer or Hands-On Architect with strong experience in cloud platform administration, DevOps engineering, CI/CD automation, and Drupal infrastructure.

This is primarily a platform engineering and DevOps role rather than a Drupal application development position. While familiarity with Drupal architecture and development workflows is important, the primary focus is establishing and maintaining a stable, secure, automated, and scalable web delivery platform.

The successful candidate will collaborate with internal IT teams, application developers, and external digital agencies to establish deployment standards, improve operational reliability, and support ongoing platform enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Acquia Cloud Platform Management

• Own the technical administration and day-to-day operations of the Acquia Cloud environment supporting multiple Drupal websites.
• Manage and maintain development, test/UAT, and production environments.
• Configure and administer platform settings, environment variables, credentials, SSH access, and deployment permissions.
• Establish repeatable processes for onboarding and offboarding internal developers and external agency partners.
• Coordinate platform upgrades, scheduled maintenance, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Monitor platform health, application availability, deployment failures, and operational issues.
• Troubleshoot environment-related issues and implement improvements to platform stability and performance.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure consistent platform operations.

CI/CD & DevOps Engineering

• Design, implement, and maintain standardized CI/CD pipelines supporting Drupal applications.
• Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines using enterprise CI/CD tools.
• Integrate Acquia Cloud deployment workflows with source control and automated release processes.
• Implement automated build, testing, validation, and deployment procedures.
• Manage Composer-based Drupal builds and application dependencies.
• Establish branching strategies, pull-request workflows, tagging conventions, and release-management standards.
• Implement appropriate approvals, security controls, and governance for production deployments.
• Develop repeatable rollback, recovery, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Reduce manual deployment activities and minimize configuration drift across environments.
• Continuously improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and consistency.

Drupal Platform Engineering

• Maintain standardized Drupal project structures, deployment configurations, and platform engineering practices.
• Support Drupal deployment workflows involving Composer, Drush, configuration management, and database updates.
• Establish standards for promoting configurations between development, test/UAT, and production environments.
• Support Drupal core upgrades, contributed-module updates, and dependency management.
• Develop and maintain shared deployment scripts, automation tools, and reusable platform components.
• Troubleshoot application deployment issues in collaboration with internal development teams and external digital agencies.
• Provide technical guidance on Drupal platform architecture, environment management, and deployment best practices.
• Ensure platform configurations support scalability, maintainability, and operational consistency.

AWS & Cloud Infrastructure

• Support cloud infrastructure and web delivery services associated with enterprise Drupal platforms.
• Work with AWS and Amazon CloudFront technologies supporting web application delivery.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to troubleshoot cloud connectivity, performance, and availability issues.
• Support cloud configuration, deployment automation, and infrastructure-related improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, performance, and scalability.

Security, Access Management & Compliance

• Implement least-privilege access controls for internal developers and external agency partners.
• Ensure credentials, secrets, and sensitive configuration values are securely managed within deployment pipelines.
• Maintain appropriate access permissions across development, test/UAT, and production environments.
• Support secure deployment practices and production change controls.
• Collaborate with IT security teams to identify and remediate platform vulnerabilities.
• Support patching, platform updates, and security-related maintenance activities.
• Maintain technical documentation covering platform configurations, access procedures, deployment processes, and operational standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Serve as a technical point of contact for Drupal platform engineering and DevOps activities.
• Collaborate with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and external digital agencies.
• Establish consistent technical standards and deployment practices across multiple web properties.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and architectural recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex platform and deployment issues and drive resolution.
• Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
• Support technology initiatives associated with enterprise web delivery and digital transformation.

Required Qualifications

• Strong professional experience in DevOps Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or Web Platform Administration.
• Hands-on experience administering Acquia Cloud environments supporting Drupal applications.
• Strong understanding of Drupal architecture, configuration management, and deployment workflows.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience managing development, test/UAT, and production environments.
• Proficiency with Composer, Drush, Git, and Drupal deployment processes.
• Experience with source-control management, branching strategies, pull requests, and release management.
• Experience implementing automated builds, testing, deployments, and rollback procedures.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and web delivery technologies, including AWS.
• Experience managing platform access, credentials, SSH permissions, and deployment security.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across cloud infrastructure, application deployments, and platform configurations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal development teams and external technology vendors.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide hands-on technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating enterprise Drupal platforms supporting multiple websites.
• Experience with Amazon CloudFront or comparable content delivery network technologies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Experience establishing DevOps standards across multiple application development teams.
• Experience supporting external digital agencies within shared enterprise technology environments.
• Familiarity with cloud security, access governance, and secure deployment practices.
• Experience with enterprise web platform modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
• Previous experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences organizations.
• Experience operating in regulated enterprise environments.
• Background in technical architecture combined with hands-on platform engineering responsibilities.
