About the Opportunity:

The SOFTWARE ENGINEER role is centered on designing and building software tools that enable real-time collaboration across health records, referral networks, and community services. This position contributes to delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable software that supports organizations working to improve outcomes for vulnerable populations. The engineer will engage in the full development lifecycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement user-focused solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Implement well-specified features under senior engineer guidance
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Develop responsive web applications and progressive web apps
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team ceremonies
• Maintain automated tests to ensure system reliability
• Collaborate with product and design teams on solution delivery
• Document code, specifications, and workflows
• Apply prompt engineering, AI-assisted tools, and automation frameworks to enhance productivity

Requirements:

• High School Diploma with 4+ years software engineering experience or Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Minimum 3 years of software engineering experience; healthcare experience preferred
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Willingness to learn new technologies and improve technical skills
• Proficient with Ruby on Rails, Ruby Sinatra, or Node JS/Fastify
• Frontend experience with React, Svelte, and modern JavaScript
• Skilled in building scalable responsive web and progressive web apps using HTML/CSS
• Experience with RESTful APIs and web services integration
• Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or EdgeDB
• Experience with background job systems like ActiveJob, Sidekiq, or Resque
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and AI development tools (Cursor, MCP agents, LLMs, Ollama)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, CircleCI)
• Understanding of software engineering principles including code quality, separation of concerns, and maintainable architecture
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Cypress or MiniTest
• Familiarity with Git workflows and collaborative development

Nice to Have:

• Experience maintaining Ruby on Rails applications in production
• Experience with PWA and SPA maintenance
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and healthcare data regulations (HIPAA)
• Prior work on healthcare platforms or workflow automation

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
