Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to support a rapidly growing, technology-driven manufacturing organization. This individual will play a critical role in designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure across corporate and advanced manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure engineer with broad expertise across Microsoft technologies, Windows and Linux servers, cloud platforms, networking, virtualization, storage, Kubernetes, and cybersecurity. This position requires someone comfortable taking ownership of complex technical environments, developing custom solutions, and supporting a fast-paced organization experiencing significant growth.

This is a highly visible, hands-on technical role requiring strong troubleshooting capabilities, independent problem-solving, and a willingness to support both strategic infrastructure initiatives and day-to-day operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Administer and support Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and hybrid Active Directory environments, including identity synchronization, conditional access, RBAC, and licensing.

- Manage enterprise endpoints using Microsoft Intune, including device enrollment, compliance, application deployment, Windows Autopilot, and patch management.

- Deploy, configure, secure, and maintain Windows Server, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Linux systems.

- Support Active Directory Domain Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and RADIUS/NPS.

- Manage virtualization environments and enterprise SAN storage, including provisioning, replication, performance, and capacity planning.

- Administer AWS infrastructure, including EKS, S3, IAM, VPC networking, monitoring, security, and cost optimization.

- Deploy, administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters in on-premises and cloud environments.

- Design, configure, and maintain Layer 2/3 networking, VLANs, ACLs, and segmentation across corporate, server, management, operational technology (OT), and guest environments.

- Support security operations using Microsoft Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, and pfSense firewalls.

- Investigate security incidents, improve threat detection, remediate vulnerabilities, and enforce least-privilege access.

- Develop automation scripts and custom infrastructure solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

- Serve as the senior technical escalation point for infrastructure issues and lead root-cause analysis.

- Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and runbooks.

- Mentor junior IT team members and contribute to infrastructure architecture and technology decisions.

- Participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled after-hours maintenance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or related IT disciplines.

- 3+ years of experience in a senior or lead infrastructure engineering capacity.

- Strong hands-on experience managing hybrid Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure, and on-premises Active Directory environments.

- Experience administering Windows Server infrastructure, including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and RADIUS/NPS.

- Strong Linux administration experience with Ubuntu and Red Hat, including networking, storage, security hardening, and command-line troubleshooting.

- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or OpenShift.

- Experience supporting enterprise SAN storage, iSCSI, and NFS; exposure to Pure Storage and HPE 3PAR is valuable.

- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including AWS EKS, S3, and IAM.

- Experience administering Kubernetes in cloud and/or on-premises environments.

- Strong Layer 2/3 networking knowledge, including VLANs, ACLs, network segmentation, MLAG, and LACP.

- Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR, Sentinel, and pfSense or comparable security platforms.

- Strong PowerShell and Bash scripting skills.

- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across multiple technology platforms.

- Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with HashiCorp Vault and Argo CD.

- Experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation.

- Python scripting experience.

- Experience administering Siemens Teamcenter.

- Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.

- Experience implementing physical security systems, including CCTV, DVR/NVR, and access control.

- Experience using AI tools to assist with scripting, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or operational technology (OT) environments.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
