Typically does: Handles customer transactions, including processing payments and providing accurate change. Provides excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues. Maintains a clean and organized workspace, restocks supplies, and assists with other tasks as needed. May also be responsible for opening or closing the register and balancing the cash drawer.
Tools and skills: Point of sale (POS) systems, cash handling, basic math skills, and strong communication and interpersonal abilities are generally required.
