Typically does: Provides direct patient care to women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. Monitors patients' vital signs, administers medications, and assists with deliveries under the direction of a physician. Educates patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a safe birthing experience.
Tools and skills: Requires proficiency in electronic health records, fetal monitoring equipment, IV insertion, and medication administration, alongside strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
