Job Description

About The Role

The role sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure operations - keeping production systems that serve millions of requests per day running reliably, and building the automation that makes that possible.

You will work directly with backend and platform engineers on incident response, capacity planning, and infrastructure-as-code, treating reliability as a software problem rather than an ops problem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the reliability of large-scale Kubernetes clusters (EKS/GKE) and the workloads running on them, including upgrades, autoscaling policies, and node lifecycle management
  • Build and maintain Terraform modules for provisioning cloud infrastructure across AWS - VPCs, EKS, RDS, IAM, load balancing - with peer-reviewed IaC as the standard
  • Design and operate observability stacks using Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry); define SLOs and error budgets with product teams
  • Lead incident response for production sev1/sev2 events, write blameless postmortems, and drive remediation work to completion
  • Automate away toil: build CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) and self-service tooling that lets engineers ship safely without ops bottlenecks
  • Tune and scale stateful services - PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka - including replication, failover, backup/restore, and disaster recovery testing
  • Contribute to capacity planning, cost optimization, and security hardening efforts across the production environment

What We Are Looking For

  • 3–6 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years operating production systems at meaningful scale
  • Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production: deployment, debugging, operators, Helm, and cluster networking
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform (or equivalent), plus scripting proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash
  • Production experience with at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and its core compute, networking, and storage services
  • Solid grounding in Linux systems, networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing), and distributed systems failure modes
  • Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and a track record of improving reliability metrics like availability and MTTR
  • Bonus: BS in Computer Science or related field, experience with chaos engineering or game days, contributions to open-source infrastructure tooling, or experience running multi-region active-active architectures
