Overview

The Senior Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specializing in CDN & Networking at WP Engine will play a pivotal role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our distributed network and content delivery systems. This position is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining networking and CDN solutions that support the growth and scalability of our platform, while also troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in a timely manner. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance and ensuring the seamless delivery of services to our customers.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize networking and CDN infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Monitor network and CDN health, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and refine deployment processes that enhance reliability and scalability.
• Lead incidents response efforts, conducting postmortems to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices in site reliability engineering.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies or practices that improve service delivery and infrastructure performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Networking, or related fields.
• Proficient in networking protocols, CDN technology, and related services.
• Strong scripting and programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Bash.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Solid understanding of systems administration in Linux environments.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Technologies & Tools

The successful candidate will work primarily with a range of cutting-edge technologies including but not limited to cloud services such as AWS and Google Cloud, CDN solutions like Akamai and Cloudflare, networking tools such as Wireshark and NetFlow, automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform, and monitoring solutions like Grafana and Prometheus. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is also beneficial.
