Sr Systems Engineer

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Supervisor, the role of the Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. The SSE will apply proven communication, analytical and problem solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT system investments. This individual will also mentor and provide guidance to System Engineers and System Administrators with regards to technical skills, documentation, analytical and communication standards to achieve a uniform response to new systems acquired, maintenance activities performed and incidents which occur.They will actively manage the design, creation, and maintenance of information technology systems, including building, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting. The Senior role will provide Subject Matter Expertise in a broad range of technology deployed throughout the hospital. They will help provide technical knowledge in all areas supported by the System Engineers and System Administrators. The SSE role will work with the IT Infrastructure Supervisor directly to define documentation standards and uniform responses for the Infrastructure team. Provides 24x7 on-call support for enterprise systems issues

EXPERIENCE: Seven or more years of experience working with specific applications and/or operating systems or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training and work experience. Seven years' experience with Windows servers and Active Directory in physical and virtual environments. Four years' experience managing Linux systems in physical and virtual environments. Four years' experience managing block, object, and file-based storage devices, preferred experience in EMC storage. Four years managing medium to large VMware environments. Five years IT experience in a healthcare facility or a health care system. Two years' experience with Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Platforms/Products.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Scripting in any one of these scripting languages: Python, Ruby, Bash, Powershell. Hyperconverged Infrastructure experience a plus.

LICENSE/CERT: Preferred: VCP (VMware Certified Professional)

EDUCATION: Preferred: Bachelors - Information Technology
