About the Opportunity:

The STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER role focuses on building a next-generation, real-time, collaborative web content platform from the ground up. This position involves defining product architecture and technical standards, shaping how developers and content teams create and manage web content. The role is critical in developing foundational technology that merges developer tools, visual editing, and cloud-native content infrastructure to solve a longstanding industry challenge.

Responsibilities:

• Design and own architecture for a real-time content platform, including data models, synchronization protocols, APIs, and client state management.
• Make technical decisions balancing developer experience, operational simplicity, and scalable cloud-native environments.
• Define engineering standards such as API design, testing, performance budgets, and observability.
• Evaluate and select third-party services and infrastructure, deciding build versus buy.
• Develop backend services supporting collaborative editing, conflict resolution, and content delivery at scale.
• Build frontend systems for visual, real-time editing, including page builders and publishing workflows.
• Manage integration between editing experiences and underlying platform APIs and extension models.
• Collaborate with design on user experience architecture for complex editing workflows.
• Partner with product and design to translate ambiguous problems into technical strategies and delivery plans.
• Mentor engineering team members through code review, pairing, and documentation.
• Engage with customers and partners to validate architectural decisions and integration needs.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with ownership across full product lifecycles.
• Proven full-stack development skills on backend (APIs, data services, cloud infrastructure) and frontend (UI components, browser performance).
• Experience with real-time or collaborative systems, event-driven architectures, or live data synchronization.
• Cloud-native expertise in platforms such as GCP, AWS, Cloudflare, or Azure, including containerization and deployment pipelines.
• Strong API design skills with knowledge of REST, GraphQL, and event-driven interfaces.
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture including component modeling, state management, and rendering performance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
