Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Job Description

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong experience in Python-based test automation, Pytest, and software testing. The candidate will be responsible for developing automated test cases, executing regression tests, debugging failures, and validating automotive embedded software.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute automated test scripts using Python and Pytest.
• Create and maintain test cases for software validation.
• Perform functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Analyze and troubleshoot automated test failures.
• Triage nightly regression failures and work with developers to resolve issues.
• Validate software functionality for EV battery management systems.
• Work with embedded software and ECU firmware teams.
• Document test results, report bugs, and track issues.
• Improve test automation coverage and overall software quality.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Software Testing / SDET.
• Strong Python programming and Pytest automation experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and executing automated test cases.
• Experience with regression testing and debugging.
• Good understanding of embedded software and ECU firmware.
• Exposure to EV battery management software testing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must be local to the Bay Area and available to work hybrid in Palo Alto, CA.

Preferred Skills

• Automotive industry experience.
• Knowledge of Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Familiarity with CAN communication protocols.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
