What it is
A barangay clearance is issued by your barangay. It shows that you live there. (olongapocity.gov.ph)
Who asks for it
Barangays issue it for many purposes, employment among them. Barangay Guinalaban in Salay, Misamis Oriental, lists employment in its Citizen's Charter. (salaymisor.gov.ph)
City offices ask for it too. The City of San Fernando (Pampanga) asks for an original barangay clearance from the Barangay Hall before it gives a certification or clearance for employment. (cityofsanfernando.gov.ph)
How to get it
In Barangay New Cabalan, Olongapo City: fill out the form and hand it in with your papers, wait while it is processed, pay, then receive the clearance. (olongapocity.gov.ph)
Bring an ID. Barangay Guinalaban asks to see one original government-issued ID, such as one from the Post Office, BIR, SSS, PhilHealth or COMELEC. (salaymisor.gov.ph)
State by state
Each barangay sets its own steps, papers and fee in its own Citizen's Charter. The examples here are those of single barangays; ask at your own barangay hall or read its charter. (olongapocity.gov.ph)
What it costs
Barangay New Cabalan in Olongapo City charges Php50.00. Other barangays set their own fee. (olongapocity.gov.ph)
If you are looking for work for the first time, the barangay clearance is one of the documents you can get free under the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act. (car.dole.gov.ph)
How long it takes
Barangay Guinalaban's charter gives 17 minutes in all for a barangay clearance. (salaymisor.gov.ph)
